Employee's appointments shall terminate at the end of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 60 (sixty) years, unless employees wish to retire at the end of the month in which they reach the age of 60 (sixty) years.

Employees may continue service on a pensionable basis up to age sixty-five, in accordance with the policy and procedure for the extension of employment following normal retirement age, and with the approval of the appropriate authority.

If an employee wishes to retire either at the end of the year or month in which they attain sixty years, they must complete and sign a declaration of intent to retire which must be submitted to the Benefits Section of Human Resources.

Early Retirement

Employees reaching the age of 55 (fifty-five) years may apply for early retirement and such application may be considered and approved by the appropriate authority.
