TERMINATION OF SERVICES

During Probation

The notice periods as stipulated in the BCEA will apply i.e. one week's written notice during the first six months of employment, two weeks' written notice during the following six months of employment and one calendar month's written notice at any time thereafter.

After Confirmation of Appointment

Academic Staff
NOTICE PERIODS

Service may be terminated by not less than 3 (three) months written notice by either party to be effective either 30 June or 31 December.

Support Staff

Service may be terminated by 1 (one) calendar month's written notice by either party unless their letters of employment stipulate a different notice period.

The notice periods specified above shall not apply to circumstances where the right to summary termination of the contract of employment by either the University or the staff member is recognised in law.

A reduced period of notice may be granted subject to approval by the appropriate authority.

An employee wishing to resign must complete the Resignation Notification document and submit to line Manager.
